    ThelastreportedsightingofthehighschoolseniorwasatschoolThursday,accordingtosheriff'sdepartmentspokeswomanSusanPlese.Hercar,withhercellphoneinside,wasfoundatthepark,Plesesaid.

    PolicearrestedJohnAlbertGardnerIII,30,onSundayinconnectionwiththedisappearance.HeisbeingheldintheSanDiegoCentralJailonsuspicionofrapeandmurder,accordingtojailrecords.

    Goresaidthebodywasfoundinaheavilywoodedareanotvisiblefromnearbyhomes.Ashoehadbeenfoundearlierinthesamearea.

    HesaidKing'sparentshavebeeninformedofthediscovery.

    "Theywereholdingouthope,asweallwere,thatwewouldfindChelseaalive,"hesaid."Thisisourworstfearsthatwewouldfindheraswedidtoday."

    GoresaidheexpectedtohavepositiveidentificationofthebodybyWednesday.
